- BeeSPutty is a new microsculpting clay created by German sculptor Stefan Niehues, who has been working in the toy industry for over 15 years. He used to work with 2-component epoxy-based clays, which, in addition to being toxic and irritating to the skin, also have a short working time before hardening. Also working with polymer clays, he faced the problem of processing when the clay was around the rigging and he had to process a specific point. This was difficult as the entire piece moved from the rigging, creating problems. Both of these problems were solved with the creation of BeeSPutty. BeeSPutty becomes slightly sticky when you shape it with your hands and can be applied directly to the rigging or to the BeeSPutty itself (baked or unbaked). During the creation of BeeSPutty and having in mind the properties of natural beeswax, he tried to give BeeSPutty similar carving properties to it. He also wanted a material that when baked could be carved, sanded and polished in the best possible way. He made no compromise on the quality of the raw materials such as fillers etc. The best ingredients for the best possible result!
- Instructions
- Cut a small piece of BeeSPutty and mold it a little with your hands to feel its excellent plasticity.
- It is good to use a framework (skeleton) e.g. aluminum wire glued to a cork. This makes it easier to handle the figure.
- Use Vaseline to smooth the BeeSPutty, put some on the back of the hand that is not holding the tool, it will take on body temperature. Put a small amount and rub with the tool or a soft brush.
- Bake it at 140ºC for up to 30 minutes in the kitchen oven and leave it in the oven until the temperature drops to room temperature, this avoids the risk of cracking.
- It can be baked several times and in different layers.
- The baked piece can be polished with a soft brush to achieve a glossy effect, like wax.
- Once baked, it can be painted with acrylics, airbrush, etc. Suitable for children over 8 years old with adult supervision.
- Never microwave.
- Enjoy sculpting with BeeSPutty!
