- Bole for burnished gold, extremely finely ground, creating a stable and perfectly homogeneous surface of high quality for traditional gilding with gold or silver leaf.
- Supplied as a ready-made paste ensuring easy application. It is mixed with rabbit skin glue and distilled water to create a strong ground that allows excellent adhesion of gold leaf.
- Preparation ratio: 1 part bole to 2 parts warm glue solution. For the glue solution use approximately 5–8 gr rabbit skin glue in 100 gr of water. The mixture is heated in a bain-marie at 60°C to achieve proper fluidity.
- Application technique: apply on a well-prepared and smooth surface. The paste is applied with a special brush in 3-4 thin layers, spaced about 2 hours apart so each layer dries completely before the next.
- Final surface preparation: after approximately 24 hours of complete drying, the surface can be further polished with a brush with very short and dense bristles before applying the gold leaf.
- Material coverage: approximately 15 - 18 m² / kg, depending on application thickness and gilding technique.
- Color effect: the natural tone of the bole appears slightly beneath the gold, giving a warm tone and depth to the final surface. Different shades of bole can be mixed to achieve different results.
