- Stained glass patina - a chemical solution designed to alter the color of solder lines (tin/lead) and metal elements for a professional finish.
- Provides a uniform, deep-toned finish (e.g. black patina), enhancing contrast and detail in stained glass work.
- Surface preparation: thoroughly clean using flux remover or neutral cleaner and lightly scrub with extra-fine steel wool for optimal reaction.
- Application: apply evenly with a brush or cloth (do not dip directly into the bottle) on a completely dry surface.
- Reaction time: immediate (seconds to a few minutes) - do not leave on for extended periods to avoid over-oxidation.
- Rinse & neutralize: rinse thoroughly with water (preferably distilled) to prevent white mineral residue.
- Dry & protect: dry completely and seal with a metal varnish or wax polish to protect the finish and prevent oxidation.
- Important tip: always work on a clean, dry surface to ensure even and consistent results.
