Important Information
  • Cyanotype is a sunlight (UV) printing process and one of the earliest photographic techniques. Discovered in 1842, it became renowned for producing rich deep blue monochrome prints. Until the 20th century, it was widely used as an economical method for reproducing photographs, documents, maps and technical drawings (hence the term "blueprints"), and later became especially popular for creating botanical and nature prints.
  • Harness the power of the sun to create detailed prints from almost any object that casts a shadow, including tools, toys, plants, leaves, stones, sand, string, lace and much more.
  • Simply place the object (for example, a leaf) onto the prepared surface and expose it to sunlight (UV).
  • You can also use a digitally printed black-and-white image (a reversed black-and-white negative printed on transparent film) instead of a physical object to create high-resolution photographic prints on paper or fabric.
  • Ideal for photographers, mixed media artists, printmakers, educators, children and creative makers of all skill levels. The cyanotype process is easy, fast, creative and fascinating.
  • Capture every shadow and create unique compositions. A fun individual or group activity suitable for all ages.
  • Suitable for natural fibre materials such as cotton, linen, silk, canvas, wool, paper, wood, leather and other absorbent surfaces.
  • The kit includes all the chemicals required to produce approximately 65 prints measuring 20x25cm on paper or approximately 50 prints measuring 20x25cm on fabric.
  • Kit contents: (Part A) Potassium Ferricyanide (powder) 23.2g (0.8oz) + (Part B) Ferric Ammonium Citrate (III) (powder) 54.4g (1.9oz).
  • Preparation: Fill each bottle with distilled water up to the ~237ml (8 fl oz) mark.
  • Total yield: Produces 237ml of Part A and 237ml of Part B, for a total of approximately 473ml (16 fl oz) of working solution.
