Composition
- Natural, organic resin in irregular golden flakes.
How to Use
- Soak the shellac flakes in pure alcohol of at least 95º degrees. After 24 hours the shellac will have completely dissolved. Strain the mixture to remove any deposits and impurities that may have formed. The shellac is ready for use. The shellac and rubbing alcohol solution can be stored for several months if kept in a tightly closed container. Filtering is recommended before each new use.
Proportion
- 250g of shellac in 1 liter of alcohol. (100g in 400ml alcohol).
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place in its own container, closed and away from direct light and heat. The ideal temperature is 15-20°C and humidity below 50%. It is not sensitive to cold, but can be damaged by heat.
Additional information
- Thinning rate, method of application and amounts applied can significantly affect working time. The most suitable application methods should be determined by experimentation and based on the surface to be gilded and the desired effect.
