- High-quality water-based lino printing inks for printing from linoleum, wood and other relief printing materials. Their smooth, creamy consistency rolls out effortlessly with a brayer, producing sharp details, crisp outlines and even colour coverage.
- Rich, high-coverage colours formulated with highly concentrated, stable pigments for vibrant, clean prints, even on dark papers. Available in 24 colours, including metallic, fluorescent and Duochrome shades that change appearance depending on the viewing angle and lighting.
- All colours are fully intermixable, allowing you to create an unlimited range of custom shades. Approximately 15 minutes of working time and an estimated 30-minute drying time on paper. They can also be used with Pebeo LINO auxiliaries to extend the working time or create lighter shades without reducing opacity.
- Easy cleanup with warm water and soap, with no need for solvents. Highly economical, as 1ml of ink is sufficient to cover approximately one A5 printing plate (14.8x21cm), depending on the printing technique and the amount of ink applied.
- 80ml tube made from 70% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, with clear labelling of the lightfastness, opacity and pigment composition of each colour. Suitable for both beginners and experienced printmakers.
- Important: Protect from freezing, as freezing permanently damages the ink.

Properties
Lamp black is a very opaque, heavily staining black pigment that does not have much covering or tinting power. It is typically the most opaque black in watercolor form. Though a very pure black, it tends to muddy slightly in mixtures. Natural sources may be brownish or bluish in tone because of impurities. When used in oil paints, it is one of the slowest drying pigments, and should not be used in underpainting or applied in layers underneath other colors.
-
Permanence
Lamp Black is very lightfast and absolutely permanent. It is used in all techniques in permanent painting.
-
Toxicity
Carbon itself is not considered hazardous, however other combustion products that are hazardous are often present as impurities when Lamp Black is produced from natural materials. For this reason, commercial preparations of the pigment should be considered.
-
History
Lamp Black is a carbon based black traditionally produced by collecting soot (known as lampblack) from oil lamps. It has been used as a pigment since prehistoric times. It is the black found in Egyptian murals and tomb decorations and was the most popular black for fresco painting until the development of Mars Black.
