  • The Sennelier Oil Sticks are a new material that gives us a new way of approaching oil painting.
  • They have a creamy texture and are used alone or in combination with classic painting oils in tubes.
  • They are applied directly to canvas (or wood or oil paper).
  • They need the same substrate (gesso) as classic oils in a tube.
  • Their colors are opaque or transparent depending on the pigment they contain.
  • They come in 2 sizes 38ml (Ø20mm - 130mm) and 96ml (Ø30mm - 148mm)
Sennelier Oil Sticks consist of:
  • Pure pigments (pure powders)
  • Safflower oil: Known for its resistance to yellowing over time and for its excellent mixing with pigments
  • Mineral wax: Gives solid form to the stick and is selected after several tests that meet the criteria for: excellent archival preservation, excellent performance of the oil stick on painting surfaces (canvas, paper, etc.), homogeneous effect, strong adhesion between layers of colors

Application
Before use, remove the film that has formed on the tip of the oil stick with a paint spatula or knife (it will form again after a few days of non-use protecting and preserving the stick). We preferably paint in layers no thicker than 1mm.
After painting you can apply painting oils on top with a brush, oil stick again or dilute with painting turpentine.
Use transparent medium paint or the Colorless Medium Oilstick (No.003) for transparent effects.
The surface will dry after 2-6 days depending on the thickness.
We can apply varnish after 6 months (as with normal painting oils) after they have dried well.
